If you know me, then you know that I am a HUGE Stephen Burrows admirer. I can remember running into him in the subway station at 135th street. I was almost shaking as I introduced myself and gave him my business card. In 2009, before we started our official awards we honored Stephen Burrows. After I interviewed him I was in tears. I could not believe that I had just sat down with a legend.
Fast forward just 2 years and there I was sitting at Bryant Park Hotel having our first HFR Conversation with none other than Stephen Burrows. He was so gracious and kind. Over the years, he has become a friend offering help along this amazing journey I call the HFR movement. He has been willing to sit down with HFR designers and offer advice and guidance. He is truly one of a kind.
With that said, you can imagine that I was over joyed at knowing Target had sponsored the Stephen Burrows exhibit “When Fashion Danced” at the City Museum of New York. I went to the opening Thursday night and it was nothing short of amazing. You must go and see this exhibit. If you are remotely interested in fashion from a historical point of view this is a MUST SEE!!
Run, not walk to see it and take a friend. You will absolutely enjoy this and I hope that you leave knowing my friend, Mr. Burrows, who just happens to also be a legend a little better.
